Sensei Jim Robinson, 5th Dan K.A.A. SHIN-GI-TAI B.A.B.
Sensei Robinson or Jim has he prefers to be called off the mat, has been practicing Aikido for over 20 years

He started his training with his ex-wife Meg in November 1982 at the only Aikido dojo in Oldham, Lancashire. Later his daughter Denise also joined. Both his sons were Dan graded in Karate. Meg attained 1st Dan and Denise is now a 2nd Dan and teaches juniors at K.A.A.

At 4th Kyu (green belt) he was already the licensing officer for the organization and taking lessons for his sensei. On the 5th March 1988 he achieved the coveted Black Belt (1st Dan). His stay at the Oldham club lasted over 6 years. Those 6 years were heavily based on Ki training and Sensei Robinson still looks back on them with affection and believes them to be a marvelous base for his progression in Aikido. At 5th Kyu (Yellow belt) he had already decided to devote his life to Aikido and become a professional instructor.

Eventually Sensei Jim left to train in other forms of Aikido though he firmly believes that there is only one Aikido, different styles form from different points of view i.e. Ki, Self defense, Weapons, Hard or soft, Etc. He has traveled throughout the country from Plymouth through the Midlands, Wales, the North West and the Lake District training with many sensei and organizations.

In his 20 years of Aikido Sensei Robinson has had to overcome a number of problems, these include a divorce in which he and his wife Meg practiced together all the time. He believes his Aikido training was a great help to him.

Sensei Robinson believes that to the true Aikidoka, Aikido is not just a Martial Art.

IT IS A WAY OF LIFE.
