KAA Founder - Jim Robinson
Sensei Jim Robinson, 6th Dan K.A.A. SHIN-GI-TAI B.A.B.
Sensei Jim Robinson 6th Dan recognised Kokyu Aikido Association, Shin-Gi-Tai and the British Aikido Board. Sensei Robinson or Jim as he prefers to be called off the mat, has been practising Aikido for 28 years.
He started his training with his then wife, Meg, in 1982 at the only Aikido Dojo in Oldham, Greater Manchester. Later his daughter Denise who has achieved 2nd Dan also joined, both his sons are Dan graded in Karate.
At 4th Kyu (green belt) he was already the licensing officer for the organisation and taking lessons for his Sensei. On the 5th March 1988 he acheived the converted Black Belt (1st Dan). His stay at the Oldham club lasted for over 6 years. Those 6 years were heavily based on Ki training and Sensei Robinson still looks back on them with affection and believes them to be a marvellous base for his progression in Aikido. At 5th Kyu he had already decided to become a professional instructor.
Eventually Sensei Jim left to train in other forms of Aikido though he firmly believes that there is only one Aikido, different styles form from differrent points of view i.e. ki, Self Defence, Weapons, Hard or Soft Aikido and Multiplw Attackers. He has travelled throughout the country from Plymouth, Wales, Yorkshire, Lancashire and the Lake District training with many different Sensei and organisations.
In almost 30 years of Aikido Sensei Robinson has had to deal with a number of problems. These include major surgery and a divorce; his Aikido training has always been a great support to him.
